Gold prices reached all time high

With the surge in stock market in last few months, we are also witnessing greater number of people trading in commodities. Gold prices have reached the magical figure of Rs.18000 (Per 10 gm) for the first time. It is approximately 1141 dollars for ounce of gold. There was a time when gold, oil and market were running parallel. But the trend has changed now there has been no relation whatsoever between the 3 any longer. So what is behind this big rally in gold prices? Last year, gold prices were hovering at $ 800-plus per ounce. Those who had invested in gold at that time have made a clean profit of $ 350 per ounce of the precious metal. Lots of money, indeed, if you had bought few ounces of gold. But the million dollar question is how long will this boom continue and where is gold price headed?

Most of the experts in market think that the gold price boom is artificially made, to a large extent, by clever bullion traders and speculators at several commodity exchanges across world led by the US Comex, who are selling gold contracts these days frantically to make lots of money. One argument from the spectators for the surge in gold prices is that the US dollar value has been plunging thanks to the collapse of several banks in America and the great ‘economic depression’ that have hit the world’s wealthiest and powerful nation. But US being the largest gold holder, the value of the yellow metal going up has increased the valuation of US reserves. Another argument for the big rise in gold price is the fact that central banks across the world are buying gold reserves heavily in an attempt to get rid of US assets held in dollars.

Is it a correct strategy for the central banks? Reserve Bank of India (RBI) surprised the bullion world early this month by buying 200 tonnes of gold from the International Monetary Fund. So the Next question in the market is “Gold prices will go upto $2000 or it wil crash again to $800″.No matter where it goes right now the marriage season getting badly affected in terms of buying of gold jewellery.

How to check whether the site is down or up ?

One of my friends always used to say that internet is nothing but just a solution to real life problems. Recently Alex Payne, a 24 years old computer engineer has developed an elegant solution to a problem encountered by most of the internet users. The service known as downforeveryoneorjustme.com allows visitors to type in a Web address and see whether a site is generally inaccessible or whether the problem is with their own Internet connection. These days many companies and people depend on the internet to continue their day today activities.

“I had seen that question posed so often. Technology companies have branded the Internet as a place that is always on and where information is always available. People are disappointed and looking for answers when it turns out not to be true.” Alex Payne

I must say, Alex has developed a wonderful tool for internet users. Kudos to him. You can visit this website by clicking here.

Twitter has become a new tool for terrorists

According to the latest report by US army, twitter can be used as an useful tool for terrorists. The report presented by the 304th Military Intelligence Battalion and posted to the Federation of American Scientists Web site carefully examines the possible ways terrorists could use the latest mobile and web technologies such as the GPS(Global Positioning System), digital maps, and Twitter mashups to plan and execute terrorist attacks. Report said Twitter has also become a social activism tool for socialists, human rights groups, communists, vegetarians, anarchists, religious communities, atheists, political enthusiasts, hacktivists and others to communicate with each other and to send messages to broader audiences.

The report has pointed out three scenarios pointed out by cnet for using Twitter as a terrorist tool:

Scenario 1: Terrorist operative “A” uses Twitter with a cell phone camera/video function to send back messages, and to receive messages, from the rest of his [group] Other members of his [group] receive near real time updates (similar to the movement updates that were sent by activists at the RNC) on how, where, and the number of troops that are moving in order to conduct an ambush.

Scenario 2: Terrorist operative “A” has a mobile phone for Tweet messaging and for taking images. Operative “A” also has a separate mobile phone that is actually an explosive device and/or a suicide vest for remote detonation. Terrorist operative “B” has the detonator and a mobile to view “A’s” Tweets and images. This may allow “B” to select the precise moment of remote detonation based on near real time movement and imagery that is being sent by “A.”

Scenario 3: Cyber Terrorist operative “A” finds U.S. [soldier] Smith’s Twitter account. Operative “A” joins Smith’s Tweets and begins to elicit information from Smith. This information is then used for identity theft, hacking, and/or physical [attacks]. This scenario has already been discussed for other social networking sites, such as My Space and/or Face Book.

But we can’t blame twitter for this misuse, even terrorists are using blogs to spread their word and plan their next attacks. Only thing that I think twitter should do to track all its visitors and store their IPs so that can be used in future to find the exact location of the terrorist.

See how Twitter works

Last month, a Nielsen.com blog ranked Twitter as the fastest growing site on internet for February 2009. Twitter had a growth of 1382%, whereas Zimbio which is on second place had a growth of 240%, followed by Facebook with a growth of 228%. It is actually one of the first micro-blogging sites on internet. It enables its users to send and read other users’ updates known as tweets. Tweets are text-based posts of up to 140 characters in length which are displayed on the user’s profile page and delivered to other users who have subscribed to them (known as followers). Senders can restrict delivery to those in their circle of friends or, by default, allow anybody to access them.

Users can send and receive tweets via the Twitter website, Short Message Service (SMS) or applications such as Tweetie, Twitterrific, Twitterfon, TweetDeck and feedalizr. The service is free to use over the Internet, but using SMS is not free as it involves some charge from the phone service provider. Now a days, it has become the “SMS of Internet”, as it provides the functionality (via its application programming interfaces) for other desktop and web-based applications to send and receive short text messages.

How to make free calls Mobile To Mobile?

Today I found a method through which I can make free calls anywhere in the world. Now I need not to pay huge phone bills. Do you want to know how to make free mobile calls? Of course the answer should be yes. For making free call we will use a cell phone with internet connection (it may be GPRS connection, 3G or wifi connection). I am confident that this will drastically reduce your mobile phone bills. Just you need to have skype installed on your cell phone. If you don’t have skype installed then just type skype.com/m in your mobile browser and download and install this application.
I have tested this trick on my E63 and got amazed to experience the voice and call quality. It was really awesome. The only condition is that both persons should have skype installed to experience completely free phone calls. These Nokia cell phones are compatabile with Skype ::

You can also use iPhone, Motorola, Samsung, Sony Ericsson, LG or any mobile with wireless or gprs internet facility. GPRS is not free and hence calling your Skype contacts can be somewhat costly so I will recommend wireless internet connection. Now a days, getting wireless connection is not a big deal. Anyways, try this method for making free phone call and in case of any doubt please revert back to me, I will try to help you.
